The traditional method for plastic coloring is stock dyeing, or stock dyeing followed by re-granulation. Plastic processing plants adopting this method must be equipped with coloring equipment and possess specialized technical expertise. In contrast, color masterbatch coloring offers superior performance in all aspects. Its advantages are as follows:
Since color masterbatch undergoes pre-treatment of pigments, the particle size of the pigments is guaranteed to be between 1 and 20 micrometers. Consequently, the plastic products produced exhibit bright colors, making this method particularly suitable for films, monofilaments, and fibers that demand high strength and appearance quality.
Products colored with color masterbatches have lower costs compared to those made via stock dyeing. This cost advantage is especially prominent for products with small batch sizes or frequent color changes. It is reported that coloring costs can be reduced by one-third.
When using color masterbatch coloring, only simple mixing of base resin pellets and color masterbatches in a rotary drum mixer is required, in accordance with the technical specifications provided by the color masterbatch manufacturer, to obtain products with the desired color and technical performance. This technology is particularly ideal for plants with limited technical capabilities.
As color masterbatches are granular and free of pigment dust, there is no dust emission during operation, reducing pollution and facilitating standardized and clean production.
